Just when you think it’s close

The work that remained was to put all of the work surfaces in place, and set up the lighting.  This would include safelights and adjustable track lighting suitable for spot workspace illumination.  The track system would be on dimmers, and all control accessible from the sink area.

Prior to setting up the counters the sink was set into place, and the plumbing connected.  During this process one asks themselves why plumbing requires so many pieces and that several of them have to be made…  The incoming hot and cold water lines are hooked to a set of micron filters.  The sink drain line also has couplings for the continual drain connected to the dehumidifier unit for the area.  In addition, a compressed air line supplies the workspace.

As the space began to fill up, it became obvious that the Durst Laborator 1200 enlarger was not going to work in this configuration.  Then the wisdom of setting up two Beseler 45MX series enlargers was questioned as they ate up counter space.  I am beginning to believe that there is never enough room.

The rolling cart in the center is a relic of the old bathroom/darkroom area prior to moving.  It will serve admirable as a task table in just about its current position.

Mr. Bear is standing on a very curious piece of equipment.  It is a Beseler Computerized Dichro 45 Colorhead that the guts have been turned around in, a frame and diffusion surface added, and serves as a contact printer for color and B/W.  Its especially helpful with Azo and POP paper.

And finally, the monster lives!  Continued on the next page.
